Chance Jolley, Coordinator, Lawrence South/Campus

  • 6/26/2023

For the past three years, I’ve worked in member services at our Lawrence branches. I started as a teller, then moved up to the position of member consultant once I had developed enough knowledge. Except for home loans and business loans, I’ve handled nearly every kind of interaction that a member might walk in or call us for. I’ve handled fraud and disputes, opened accounts, set up IRA’s, attended the safe deposit box, and provided troubleshooting for debit cards and online banking, along with too many other duties to list. I’ve recently been promoted to Coordinator for our 23rd St and 31st St branches. This has been an exciting transition for me because now I get to step back and help educate and empower our frontline staff to provide the best service possible. My day-to-day routine mainly involves helping Caitlin and Johnathan keep things running as smoothly as possible while working on resources for my peers. However, I still enjoy working directly with our members as circumstances allow.

Truity is the first company I’ve worked for where I feel both well cared for and valued as an individual. I get along with all my colleagues, my healthcare and retirement benefits are good, and I get to be home in time for supper every night. I also love working at a not-for-profit credit union, where I work for our members, not shareholders. Even when I doubted making a career out of banking, I always stuck with Truity because I had never experienced such a positive work environment.

I love that all of us, in every department, are on the same team. We exist to serve our members’ needs and to support one another. Thankfully our managers do an excellent job of hiring staff that share those values. I’ve never seen infighting here, though it was common at other places I’ve worked. I know with absolute certainty that when I make a mistake or require assistance, my team will help me through it instead of throwing me under the bus.

My leaders over the past few years at Truity helped make me who I am today. When I started as a teller, I lacked confidence and basic time management skills. I owe Faith Lawrenz for showing me the importance of not passing the buck, Caitlin Fisher for teaching me to organize my time and prioritize my goals, and Shelby Rymer for inspiring me to think outside the box. Every mentor and manager I’ve ever worked with at Truity has treated me with respect and shown a genuine desire to help me grow both professionally and personally.
