Employee Story: Melody Chambers
I started at Truity in 2000 as the Internal Auditor, where I had the opportunity to work with many different areas of the credit union. This helped me gain knowledge about different departments such as Lending, Accounting, and Credit Resolutions. In 2005, I moved to an Accountant position, where my previous experience was a tremendous benefit. The credit union had just converted to a new core system, and I was able to help with that transition because of my previous knowledge. In 2006 I was promoted to Senior Accountant, and in 2008 I was promoted to a Coordinator. I feel that being a part of project teams over the years has helped me gain leadership and teamwork skills, and this has been a big part of my progress at Truity. In 2017, I was promoted to Assistant Manager of Accounting, which is my current position.
Truity is full of great people, and ways to stay engaged and feel a part of the Credit Union. New product implementations, project teams, and the talent development program offer opportunities to grow and develop. I love my position in Accounting because there is always something new happening. Every product or change seems to affect Accounting, so there are still opportunities to work with other departments to implement a change - or find ways to make things better or more efficient.
I appreciate that there are opportunities to spend time with senior management and get to know our leadership. Project teams provide time to get to work with people in other departments and to see how things work and how decisions are made. I am very appreciative of the many benefits we have, especially the insurance benefits, wellness program, and 401K matching. I have always been treated with respect and feel I have had opportunities to develop and grow my talents. It is a flexible environment, where family life is important.
